Music Department Presents Broadway Night

Veritas Staff

The Music Department presented  Broadway Night on Friday night, March 27.

In this annual spring musical show, students perform highlights from two Broadway shows.  This year they chose to perform selections from South Pacific and Phantom of the Opera.

The RHS Band opened up each segment with a medley of songs from each of the Broadway shows. First was South Pacific; selections from Phantom of the Opera followed intermission.

Students choreographed the skits and chose their costumes as well.  It was a team effort as many chorus and band members took part in multiple selections.

Many laughs and strong talent dominated the night.  Kaitlin Mott, Alyssa Collins, Genesis Rojas, Ella Engle, Sophie McLellan, Rebeca Portela, Leah DeCecco and Kalee Lucier-Hill performed strong solos with marvelous range in many instances.

The comedic highlights of the night were the role reversal ensembles in which the guys sang “I’m Gonna Wash that Man Right Outta my Hair” and the girls performed “Nothing Like a Dame,” both selections from South Pacific.

The show’s finale, “Masquerade” gave the entire cast the chance to go on stage all dressed up for the masquerade ball.

Congratulations to the Music Department for another entertaining production.
