Congratulations to the winter sports athletes who were named All-Scholastics by the Brockton Enterprise.  They include:

Tyler Johnson


Senior was a standout swimmer and student. … GPA of 4.68 was .01 off for being considered for NISCA Academic All-American. … Stands at 6-3. … Swam the 100 yard freestyle, 50 free,100 free, 200 free, 100 backstroke and 200 free relay. … South Shore League All-Star. … Enterprise Cross Country All-Scholastic. … SSL Scholar Athlete Award. … Favorite athlete is Tuuka Rask. … Favorite class is AP microeconomics. … Special Olympics swim coach. … Plans to attend North Eastern and major in business finance. … “Tyler’s smiling face, 110 percent commitment to our swim team and his great example of sportsmanship will be greatly missed at RHS,” said Rockland/South Shore Tech coach Julie Margolis.



Pierre Comeau

Senior forward averaged 16 points and 9 rebounds per game, both of which led the team. … Most memorable season moment was hitting a winning 3-pointer against rival Norwell to clinch the South Shore League Sullivan Division title. … League all-star averaged 3 assists per game. … Enjoys fishing, working out and running track. … SSL champ in the hurdles. … Runner-up for SSL Player of the Year. … Favorite class is history. … Captain’s favorite athlete is Russell Westbrook. … “Pierre was by far our most improved player from last year,” said Rockland coach Fred Damon.

Dante Vasquez


Senior guard averaged 8.5 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists per game. … Four-time South Shore League All-Star and Enterprise All-Scholastic (twice in football, twice in basketball). … Helped Bulldogs finish 19-3. … Serves as a mentor to children with behavioral problems at Rogers Middle School. … Rockland football’s all-time leading rusher. … Favorite athlete is Mark Ingram Jr.. … Will play football at Framingham State University in the fall. … Enjoys lifting weights and coaching youth basketball and football. … “His compete level was one of the best I have ever coached in 30 years,” said Rockland coach Fred Damon.


Hunter Wardwell

Junior forward is already over 1,000 points for his career. … Averaged 12 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists per game. … Two-time Enterprise All-Scholastic. … South Shore League All-Star in football and basketball. … Favorite class is precalculus. … Helps coach a Rockland Youth Football team. … Favorite athlete is Kobe Bryant. … “He always covered one of our opponent’s better players every night. He has been an invaluable player for us the last two years,” said Rockland coach Fred Damon.


Derek Williams

Junior forward averaged 13 points per game. … Averaged 6 rebounds and 2 assists per game. … South Shore League All-Star. … Missed all but two games during his sophomore season. … Volunteers with youth summer camps. … Favorite class is Spanish. … Favorite athlete is LeBron James. … Stands at 6-2. … Starred as a sixth man. … “He is fearless going to the hoop and can rebound with anyone,” said Rockland coach Fred Damon. “Derek sacrificed for the team.”





Senior guard finished her career with 1,262 points. … Two-time South Shore League Player of the Year. … Four-time SSL All-Star and three-time Enterprise All-Scholastic in basketball. … Averaged 14.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. … Connected on 27 3-pointers. … Three-year captain. … Favorite class is math. … Favorite athlete is Marcus Smart. … Will study biology and play basketball at Roger Williams University. … “Caroline is the epitome of hard work and team player,” said Rockland coach Diana Newcomb. “She practices everyday just as hard as she plays in games, never taking a possession off.”


Sophomore doubled her production from her freshman season. … Averaged 15 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. … Recorded eight double-doubles during the season. … Two-time Enterprise All-Scholastic in basketball. … South Shore League All-Star. … Most memorable season moment was playing at the TD Garden in the Div. 3 state semifinal. … Favorite athlete is Giannis Antetokounmpo. … Favorite class is math. … Referee for town league basketball. … “Her overall growth has made her one of the top names in the area and brought our team to a new level,” said Rockland coach Diana Newcomb.


Senior captain was a four-year varsity player. … Led the team in drawn charges and was second in 3-pointers. … Averaged 5.2 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game. … Stands at 5-4. … Helped the volleyball and basketball team win sectional titles this school year. … Favorite athlete is Kevin Garnett. … Most memorable season moment was played at the TD Garden in the state semifinal. … Enjoys babysitting, volunteering and making people laugh. … Favorite athlete is Kevin Garnett. … “She played with her heart on her sleeve and had so many big and little moments this season that helped define who we were as a team,” said Rockland coach Diana Newcomb.

Nick Blonde

Junior forward was just the second Rockland played chosen as the South Shore League’s Player of the Year. … Scored 15 goals and 17 assists. … Selected twice to play in the Massachusetts vs. Connecticut Sophomore/Junior All-Star Game. … Captain is a two-time SSL All-Star. … Has 77 career points (35 goals, 42 assists). … Favorite class is gym. … Favorite athlete is Patrick Kane. … Enjoys coaching youth teams. … “Nick had another incredible season for us, whenever we needed a big goal he either scored it or set it up,” said Rockland coach Mike Flaherty.


Jake Higgins

Sophomore forward scored 9 goals and 13 assists this season. … South Shore League All-Star had a breakout sophomore campaign after scoring 2 points as a freshman. … Stands at 6-1, 170 pounds. … Most memorable season moment was when teammate John Henry scored his first varsity goal in the final game of the regular season. … Favorite athlete is Patrick Kane and class is history. … Coaches youth basketball. … Plans to coach a youth lacrosse team in the spring. … “We moved him up to our top line and he responded in a big way for us,” said Rockland coach Mike Flaherty.

Nick Leander


Junior defenseman is a two-time South Shore League All-Star and the leader of Rockland’s defensive core. … Tallied 6 assists this season bringing his career tally to 14. … Has three career goals. … Was a captain this season. … Enterprise All-Scholastic in lacrosse. … South Shore League All-Star in football. … Tabbed as a captain for the football team next season. … Favorite class is English. … Favorite athlete is Luke Kuechly. … Hopes to play lacrosse and hockey at a four-year college. … “He is the only upperclassmen we have on ‘D’ and he does a great job for us,” said Rockland coach Mike Flaherty.



Junior goaltender was a South Shore League All-Star. … Had a .910 save percentage and 2.47 goals against average. … Recorded one shutout this season. … Two-time league all-star. … Chosen as the MHSCA Player of the Week. … Favorite class is math. … Favorite athlete is Rob Gronkowski. … Enjoys playing video games and going to work. … “Thomas, in my opinion, has become one of the best goalies around this season regardless of division or league,” said Rockland coach Mike Flaherty.

Owen Shea


Senior captain won the Div. 3 South Sectional title at 220 pounds. … First Rockland sectional champion in about a decade. … Two-time South Shore League All-Star in wrestling. … Stands at 6-3 and finished 92-21 in his career. … Posted a 21-4 record as a senior. … Favorite athlete is Stone Cold Steve Austin. … Academic Achievement Award in Engineering/Robotics. … Two-time Enterprise All-Scholastic in wrestling. … Coaches lineman for Rockland’s Youth Football Midgets team. … Plays guitar, harmonica and piano. … Favorite class is sports strength and conditioning. … “Owen’s leadership skill has distinguished him as one of the best captains the team has had in my 20 years of coaching,” said Rockland/Abington coach Tim Brown.
