Senior Joe Palana watches the cast perform his original play, Let’s Get Angsty.
Students from Rockland High School’s Theater Guild will take the stage Saturday, March 2, in the preliminary round of the 2013 Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild High School Drama Festival.
Rockland’s entry is Let’s Get Angsty, senior Joe Palana’s original comedy performed by our talented cast back in September at Rockland High School.
The Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild High School Drama Festival is a statewide festival that includes 112 high schools performing at 14 preliminary sites on Saturday, March 2nd. Rockland is competing at Bourne High School. The performance begins at 3 p.m.
This is Rockland’s first year competing in the festival in many years.
Mrs. Armstrong, Theater Guild advisor, said, “Since this is our first time competing in the festival, we’re not sure what to expect.” She added confidently, “But we have a strong show and a strong cast.”
In Bourne RHS will be competing against Dartmouth, South Shore Vo Tech, Bourne, Marshfield, Case and Plymouth South High Schools. 40 minutes is allowed to perform and each play is judged on certain directing and acting criteria. Individual actors will also be judged and selected to an All-Star Cast.
