2017 Fall Sports Seeing Success
The 2017 fall sports teams are experiencing success this fall.
Foremost among them is the girls volleyball team who have clinched an undefeated South Shore League Championship. They clinched the undefeated title yesterday, Monday, Oct. 16 with a 3-0 victory over Norwell; their record is now 14-1. Read the Veritas‘ report on the team here.
Also on Monday, which was the boys’ soccer team’s senior night, senior Matty O’Brien scored the game winning goal for the boys soccer team (6-5-3) to give them a big 1-0 win over EB. Read sports editor O’Brien’s article about the team here.
The girls soccer team lost a tough one on Monday to EB, 3-1. This gives them a season split with archival, EB. That leaves their record at 9-3-1 and they are in great position as they look forward to the last games of the season and the tournament. Read Danielle O’Brien’s article on the team here.
The golf team is having their best season yet. Yesterday, Rockland beat SSVT 38.5- 15.5: Chase MacDonald had the low score for the second straight match for the Bulldogs (8-7). Also winning their matches for Rockland were: Evan Gormley, Jake Johnson, Aiden Glennon, Peter Kohler, Devin Gallagher, and Eden Dalton. Today, the golf team earned a trip to the state tournament with a win over Abington! Here is a story from the October print Veritas about the team.
The cross country teams have gotten their share of wins and both teams’ records stand at 2 wins, 3 losses. They will honor their seniors today in the last home meet against Cohasset/Hull at 4 pm. Veritas reporter Erin Connors’ report on the cross country teams is here.
The football team’s record is 4 wins and 2 losses and they are coming off a big 40-7 win at Randolph last Friday night. This Friday the Dogs will honor their seniors as they celebrate Homecoming against Middleboro at 7 pm. Here is Matt Dalton’s story on the team.
